Measurement guide
Our blouse stitching asks for seven measurements. They take about ten minutes with a soft tape and someone to help. All measurements are in inches.
Before you start
- Wear the bra you will wear under the blouse.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight. You should be able to slide a finger under it.
- If you have a blouse that fits you well, measuring that blouse is often easier and more accurate than measuring yourself. Lay it flat and measure it as described below.
- Write each number down as you go, then enter them on the saree page before you pay.
The seven measurements
| Measurement | How to take it |
|---|---|
| Bust | Around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape level across the back. |
| Waist | Around the body where the blouse will end, usually just under the bust. |
| Shoulder | Across the back, from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other. |
| Armhole | Around the top of the arm, under the armpit and over the shoulder point. |
| Sleeve length | From the shoulder point down the arm to where you want the sleeve to end. |
| Front neck | From the base of the neck at the shoulder, straight down to where you want the front neckline to sit. |
| Back neck | From the base of the neck at the shoulder, straight down the back to where you want the back neckline to sit. |
For the unstitched suits
Our suit sets arrive as uncut lengths for the kurta, bottom and dupatta, so your own tailor can cut them to you. Take the set to them as it is. If you would like the kurta to sit a particular way, a kurta that already fits you well is the most useful thing to bring along.
Notes for the tailor
The notes box on the saree page is for anything the numbers do not say: a lining colour, a deeper back, a fit you want repeated from a blouse you already own. If you have a reference photo, place your order first, then send the photo on WhatsApp with your order number.
Not sure?
Book a video call and we will take you through each measurement while you do it. A stitched blouse cannot be returned, so it is worth the ten minutes to be sure.
